Australian Government - Australians in need of consular assistance should contact the Consular Emergency Centre in Canberra on +61 1300 555 135. Australians directly affected by the tsunami can call 1800 057 111 Australians concerned about relatives or friends in affected areas should call the Consular Emergency Centre in Canberra on 1800 002 214.

Canadian Government - The Operations Centre of Foreign Affairs Canada operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An experienced officer is always available to respond to emergency call from anywhere in the world. Canadian citizens outside Canada can call collect to (613) 996-8885. For calls originating in Canada and the U.S., call 1-800-267-6788, or (613) 944-6788. You can also communicate via TTY by dialling 1-800-394-3472 (in Canada and the U.S.) or (613) 944-1310

Chinese Government - The Foreign Ministry has a hotline 86-10-65963511, to help the public track down relatives and friends in South and Southeast Asia. The hotline set up by Hong Kong authorities is (852) 2829 3010.


Greek Government - The Foreign Ministry hotlines are 210.368.1212, 210.368.1730 and 210.368.1360 for relatives or friends to report Greek citizens in to the latter two categories.

The Indian Airlines has set up special cells in Kolkata, Chennai and Delhi for the help of the people whose relatives are stranded at the islands of Andaman and Nicobar.

Helpline for missing persons from Sweden

Missing Swedes

According to the Swedish newspapers, more than 1,500 Swedes many of them, children are missing in Phuket and Krabi, Thailand since Sunday. Eight ID experts from Sweden flew down to Phuket on Dec 30 to help identify the corpses.

The Indian Council for Child Welfare, Tamil Nadu, has set up a children's disaster relief fund, especially for those who have lost a parent, to meet their immediate needs and ensure there is no disruption in education. Contact 26260097/26282833.

Planet Yumm, Arun Ice Cream and Sangeetha Relief Centre are collecting blankets, clothes and utensils for victims at Thiruvarur. Contributions may be dropped in at their city outlets.

Employees of the Power Grid Corporation of India are supporting relief measures of the authorities. R. P. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, announced a contribution of Rs. 45 lakhs to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and said the local units in States were arranging distribution of food and clothes.

SEED is trying to help the victims in Andaman and here's how to help them:

SEEDS is launching relief operations in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We will start operation of one relief camp in Port Blair on the morning of 29 December, and another in a day. IA plans 15 relief flights

IA plans 15 relief flights in one single day

IIn the aftermath of the devastating floods in Port Blair, Indian Airlines has continued with its operations to evacuate stranded tourists and other people, on 29th December, IA plans to operate as many as 15 relief flights on a single day - 7 from Chennai and 8 from Kolkata to carry 1785 passengers. As a consequence many scheduled flights of Alliance Air are required to be cancelled.

It has also been decided to carry all relief material free of cost. The Regional Directors of Indian Airlines can be contacted for carriage of relief material at the following telephone numbers:
